Navigating change and personal growth.
What to do when the unexpected happens.
The reset year. A year that tends to be full of changes and things you didn’t plan on or expect, and oftentimes, they aren’t easy. But the one thing a reset year brings is this: an opportunity to grow.
A reset year can contain anything from a big move, relational shifts or breaks, a job change, or loss. As much as these kinds of years can be wildly uncomfortable, and at times disappointing, they are years capable of fostering new things and bringing about beauty… the kind that only comes from perseverance.
2025 was a reset year for me. So many things shifted in my life… what my body required, my husband’s work and our finances, how I spend my time, the people who I allow into my inner circle, and my capacity. All those things brought up a lot internally - things that I would have never known were there if there hadn’t been something to shake things up.
And because I didn’t resist and decided to lean in to the discomfort, I grew. My ability to experience contentment and peace increased, I have more hope and expectancy for the future, I offloaded a lot of fear + control, and stopped making excuses for other’s who aren’t ready to change… and also stopped making excuses for the things I wasn’t changing.
Some uncomfortable truths I had to remind myself of:
The only thing you can truly control is how you respond to things
Fear is not a good decision maker - stay aware of what’s motivating you
Mindset matters, but so does processing emotions that might contradict it
And one of the most important things I realized I needed…
Patience.
Patience with others, and with yourself. Life is a journey, and very rarely do things move at the pace we would like.
If you find yourself in the middle of a reset, my encouragement to you is to lean in. If you do, I promise the discomfort will be worth it. And if you’re like me and have been settling into life after a lot of change… maybe take a moment to reflect, and celebrate your growth.
