Romanticize your life with Autumn activities

Autumn things to do in October and November for romantics and old souls.

I’m not into overly cheesy and cliche things, and this blog is full of what I personally enjoy doing each fall. In this blog you’ll find original ideas — everything from dreamy suggestions, what to look for in your area, movie and music recommendations, and some personal favorite soup recipes. To set the tone, I’ll incorporate 35mm film photos from the English countryside I captured in the autumn.

The most important mindset to have as you enter autumn…

Fall is such a beautiful but brief season, and it’s very easy to miss its beauty if you don’t make an effort to slow down and savor it. As the sun begins to set earlier, make a point to crawl into your bed and prioritize sleep. Wake up earlier and enjoy a the crispy autumn air. Be mindful of how many social activities you commit to. Go on more walks and notice the season’s change as you do.

Romanticize Fall List - Things to do:

Here is my list of absolute musts for the autumn season:

  • Hiking during peak foliage color change - click here to find out when the peak color change will happen near you

  • Bake apple or pumpkin pie, or use other seasonal produce to make other baked goods

  • Plan an autumn picnic with friends - pack some extra blankets, bring warming foods, and hot apple cider to enjoy in a park or pretty place

  • Go shopping for new sweaters for the cold months at local thrift stores, or shop quality options from one of my favorite brands, Sézane

  • Listen to the perfect autumn soundtrack - click here to listen (I also recommend these albums: Fleet Foxes “A Very Lonely Solstice”, Bill Evan’s “Undercurrent”, Novo Amor’s “Birthplace”, and anything by Billie Holiday)

  • Go on early morning walks when the sun is coming up and there’s a crispness in the air. This is a great way to start your day and set your circadian rhythm.

  • Go camping - make breakfast over the campfire, hot cocoa and s’mores by the fire at night, explore the park by day, and hammock with a good book in hand

  • Spend rainy days at your local library to read, or at your favorite coffee shop to journal or write letters

  • Find local farmers markets and shop their seasonal offerrings

  • See if any chefs or restaurants are offering a special autumn 3-6 course meal

  • Google “scenic routes” in your area and go for a late afternoon drive while listening to your favorite album
